Welcome to on-line tutoring provided by the Academic Skills Center (ASC). We offer on-line tutoring in all on-line math classes each semester through the virtual classroom via Blackboard. You will need a computer that is compatible with Blackboard to access on-line tutoring. The ASC is not responsible and does not support computer incompatibilities or java. The tutoring sessions are scheduled within one business day of submitting a request to the ASC and are held in thirty minute increments. Below is a schedule when on-line tutoring is available.

Procedures
Step 1: Please fill out the on-line tutor request form and submit the information.
Step 2: Check your e-mail within one business day to arrange the tutoring session. The e-mail will confirm the tutoring session time as well as provide a username and password for access to the virtual classroom in Blackboard.
Step 3: Login to Blackboard with the provided username and password at the agreed time.
Step 4: Click on Virtual_Academic_Skills in the My Courses box.
Step 5: Click on the Virtual Tutor button on the left of the screen.
Step 6: A Collaboration Session window will appear. Click on the Join button in the Lecture Hall row. The virtual classroom should load. If you have problems with loading the virtual classroom it may be because java is not configured correctly (the ASC does not support java) and you may need to load or reload java.
Assistance with writing and English is available through the Writing Center and the Online Writing Center.
If you experience any problems, please contact the ASC at 919-735-5151 ext 265 or 764.
