Grant Writing
MISSION
The mission of the Grants Development Office is to identify, facilitate, assist, coordinate, and expedite resource development activities in support of the mission, goals, and objectives of Wayne Community College.
ROLE
Information & Education
- Research and remain current on potential and appropriate external funding sources (Federal, State, Local, Private Foundations, Corporate Foundations, etc)
- Educate WCC Faculty & Staff on funding opportunities and encourage interest in the grant seeking process
- Monitor educational legislation, news, etc affecting grant seeking activities
- Review potential funding sources and determine compatibility and WCC eligibility
- Provide training in grant development to WCC faculty & staff
Grants Development
- Solicit grant proposal ideas from WCC faculty & staff
- Review project plans and assess candidacy for grant development

- **All grants of $5,000 or more must be coordinated through the Grants Development Office. Courtesy copies of grant proposals less than $5,000 must be provided to the office prior to submission.
- Review and confirm that the funding organization's activities do not conflict with the mission of Wayne Community College
- Review in detail the funding organization's request for proposal (application guidelines) and assess all terms and conditions
- Provide recommendations and assistance in project planning and development

- Ensure sound strategic planning methods are applied to project formulation and are clearly communicated in the project plan
- Complete any necessary initial eligibility validations and required forms
- Assist in the collection of supporting statistical data in conjunction with the Office of Planning & Research and the respective department seeking grant funds
- Review and edit grant proposal drafts
- Assist in budget formulation in support of grant proposals
- Coordinate WCC senior administrative review and approval for all grant submissions
- Act as a liaison between grant seeking activities and the Chief Financial Officer
- Complete & coordinate forms related to grant applications
- Coordinate and submit final grant proposals to funding organizations
- Draft thank you letters to funding organizations from Wayne Community College
- Serve as the liaison between Wayne Community College and the funding partner
Grants Management
- Receive grant award notifications
- Track and manage all records pertaining to grant seeking activities
- File and maintain copies of all grant proposals
- Monitor and ensure timely submission of required grant progress reports and final reports to funding organizations
- File and maintain copies of grant progress reports created and submitted by respective departments
