HOW TO APPLY FOR A GRANT AT WAYNE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Grants indeed are a significant source of funding, but more importantly they provide a platform for partnership in which Wayne Community College and funding organizations can actively plan to meet the educational and vocational needs of Wayne County. Most grant proposals are initiated in one of two ways:
- A department implementing a plan or program is in need of additional funding and contacts the Grants Development Office for assistance
- The office of Grants Development identifies a funding opportunity that is compatible with WCC's strategic plan and contacts the appropriate department to solicit involvement in the grant development process
All grants must be coordinated through the Grants Development Office. If assistance is not requested, at a minimum please notify us of the intent to seek external funding and provide a courtesy copy of the proposal prior to submission.
Regardless of interest origination, follow the steps below to submit a grant proposal. You can contact our office at any point for questions regarding the development process (735-5151, ext 701). Note: Except in rare cases, the grant development process must begin several months in advance to complete coordination and to adequately prepare a competitive proposal:
- Determine how the project fits into WCC's mission and objectives.
- Develop clear and measurable outcome-based objectives for the project.
- Discuss the opportunity and obtain approval from your supervisor prior to submitting a proposal.
- Appoint a project director and project team members (the team should consist of subject area experts who will provide necessary data and project support).
