AOL Users
If you are using AOL and the AOL browser, you may have difficulty using Blackboard for Internet courses. If you do, you need to install Internet Explorer and use it, outside of AOL, to connect to your course. We suggest you install and use Internet Explorer. You will find information on installing these browers in the next section below.
Browsers
The Web and the tools used to publish on it are changing every day. If you are using an older version of a browser that cannot handle advanced features of HTML, then some portions of this course may not work for you.
We recommend that you use the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. If you are not certain which version you have, click on the "Help" menu at the top of your screen. Then click on the "About Explorer" or "About Communicator" to see your version. Make sure your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements before downloading & installing any software. Wayne Community College is not responsible for any problems created by downloading and installing any of the software listed on this page.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Plug-ins & Viewers
Browsers also use plug-ins and other helper applications to help them display Web documents. If you encounter an element (such as video or animation) that requires one of these helpers, you may see a message that your browser isn't equipped for that content type. Viewers are required to display certain files formats, such as a PowerPoint slide show. These are common plug-ins, players, and viewers that are used on the Web in general, and that may also be used in this course. We recommend that you download all of them. These are all free downloads.
Other Utilities & Programs
WinZip - www.winzip.com (this is a shareware 30 day evaluation) is used to compress and decompress zip files.
