NC CHILDCARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Financial Aid Office is currently accepting applications for the NC Childcare Assistance Program. This grant program is designed to help eligible student-parents cover the cost of their childcare needs while enrolled full-time at a NC Community College. Interested applicants must be NC residents who are enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) with at least 6 credits in a traditional or hybrid class setting. Additional requirements include having unmet financial need as determined by the FAFSA, meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress standards and not receiving assistance from other agencies.

Applications are available online or may be picked up in the Financial Aid Office.

Federal Direct Loans
Paying for college is an investment that requires planning and money. Wayne Community College participates in the William D. Ford Direct Loan (Direct Loan) program through the U.S. Department of Education. The Direct Loan program offers low-interest loans to eligible students to help cover the cost of college.

Scholarships
The Financial Aid Office is often asked to administer scholarships that are proviced by various groups, organizations and agencies. The Foundation of Wayne Community College also has many scholarships available to WCC students.

Satisfactory Academic Progress
Students receiving financial aid are required to maintain satisfactory academic progress in order to be eligible to receive assistance.

Gainful Employment
While all programs at Wayne Community College are designed to lead to either employment or transfer, the Department of Education has mandated that institutions disclose specific information about programs that meet the federal government's Gainful Employment Program definition. At WCC, these programs are either certificate or diploma programs that are also Title IV eligible educational programs. To comply with the federal mandate, WCC has created a website for prospective students to access this Gainful Employment information.
