Welcome to Wayne Communiity College

FEDERAL PROGRAMS

FEDERAL PELL GRANT

To apply for a Federal Pell Grant, you must complete the FAFSA each year. You will need to include the financial aid code for Wayne Community College (008216) on the FAFSA form in order for our college to receive the information electronically. The results from the FAFSA will help the financial aid administrator determine your eligibility for the Pell Grant.

FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT (FSEOG)

A FSEOG is a grant to help students offset their educational expenses after high school. It is for undergraduates only with exceptional financial need (with priority given to Federal Pell Grant Recipients), and it does not have to be paid back.

FEDERAL WORK STUDY

WCC offers employment opportunities to eligible students who wish to earn money while attending college. Students work in various areas on campus. On average, students work approximately 15 hours per week at a rate of $7.25 per hour. Most students earn about $3000 per year.

If interested in the federal work-study program, students should indicate this interest when completing the FAFSA. Upon receipt, a separate application may be mailed to students. For more information about the program, contact the work-study coordinator.

NON-FEDERAL AID PROGRAM

ALTERNATIVE OR PRIVATE LOAN OPTIONS

Wayne Community College students enjoy the benefits of low cost tuition in a high quality academic environment where students develop both personal and marketable skills for the future. With the increased availability of state and federally funded grants and scholarships, most Wayne Community College students are able to cover their college expenses without the need for student loans.

Wayne Community College administration understands that some students may choose to borrow additional funds to cover expenses that fall outside of the direct costs including but not limited to tuition and fees. Because it is our desire to offer students alternatives, the college will continue to provide students information about lenders who offer alternative loans. Students are advised to borrow responsibly.

**While there are a variety of lending options available, Wayne Community College does not recommend the services of one lender over another. Listed below is a profile of lenders selected by our students. Be advised that this information has been reviewed and is current as of February 5, 2010.
