At Wayne Community College we are pleased to be a part of this tradition and to train graduates to work in the forestry community. Students in our program get an education in the many subject areas associated with forestry including: Silviculture, forest measurements, wildlife management, dendrology, logging and marketing of forest products, fire control, forest environmental issues, and many others.
The Forest Management Technology Program at Wayne Community College is a 2 year program of study leading to an Associates of Applied Science Degree. It is the oldest program of it’s kind in North Carolina and one of the oldest in the Southeastern United States. With forestry being the 2nd largest manufacturing industry in our state we are in an excellent position to supply trained employees to support the activities associated with the forestry community. Graduates from our program find employment in a variety of forestry and natural resources occupations including opportunities with: State and federal forestry agencies, forest industry, environmental consulting firms, forestry consulting firms, The National Park Service, and The US Fish and Wildlife Service. Employment is available in both the local area as well as nationwide.
Wayne Community College is located in Goldsboro, NC in the coastal plain of the state. Our centralized location in Eastern North Carolina puts us in a position to take advantage of the variety of forestry practices taking place here.
