April 2011 Exhibit – Earth Day

Earth Day is celebrated every April 22nd and was started back in 1970.  The current book exhibit available for the rest of this month in the WCC Library newspaper area includes books  on topics such as green living and sustainability, as well as children’s books about recycling and planting trees.

For more information about living green and some good tips on going green, visit the United States Environmental Protection Agency ‘s Earth Day website. A neat resource is an interactive map that shows locations where people have great tips on a variety of environmental issues.

I Love Libraries is a great website from the American Library Association (ALA) that supports library advocacy as well as other library issues.  Visit this website for great booklists, library quotes and other great library information.

April 2011 Exhibit – National Poetry Month

In observance of April as National Poetry Month the bulletin board exhibit area of the WCC Library is featuring books of and about poetry. From Percy Shelley to Shel Silverstein, check out a book of poems or a book about a particular poet you like or would like to get to know.

Another neat resource for information about poetry sponsored by the Poetry Foundation is called Poetry Tool.  Poetry Tool offers entry to thousands of poems searchable by category, occasion or first line, as well as audiovisuals and the most popular poems already searched for on the website.
