June 2011 Exhibit – American Civil War

It has been 150 years since the American Civil War began in 1861.  In the WCC Library newspaper exhibit area for June 2011  are books about the American Civil War, since 2011 begins the four-year celebration of the Civil War Sesquicentennial.  Lasting until 2015, this observance of a pivotal conflict in our country’s history is being commemorated all over the United States with many different events.  The library’s display offers only a sampling of the wide range of Civil War materials held, ranging from biographies to books about specific battles or general histories.

To learn more about the sesquicentennial, visit the official website. On this website, you can find information about events in North Carolina, a comprehensive Civil War timeline, as well as information about Civil War battlefields.
