June 2012 Exhibit: Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was a British novelist who lived during the Victorian era, but his work still resonates and is revered today through retellings and films. Since 2012 is the 200th anniversary of his birth, the Erwin Library’s newspaper exhibit area now highlights some of his most famous books, along with retellings of these stories by other authors, and biographies of Dickens himself.

For more information about the celebration and more information about Charles Dickens, visit the Dickens Anniversary website.

June 2012 Exhibit: Beach Reads

June is the official start of summer and, this year, the Erwin Library bulletin board exhibit area presents some good reads for your beach trip or other summer trip.  Check out books about the beach, books that take place at the beach or during the summer, as well as books about other summer activities. For those of you that don’t have a trip to the beach or any where else planned, these books will remind you of past vacations and help you look forward to future trips.
