North Carolina History: From the Mountains to the Sea Exhibit

Most people may have had a little bit of North Carolina history taught to them when they were in school, but how much do we really know about the state that we live in? Visit the library’s bulletin board exhibit area to find books about North Carolina history from the mountains to the ocean.

For more information about North Carolina history, visit the North Carolina History Project and the NCpedia.

July 2012 Exhibit: American History

The Erwin Library invites you to check out books from the bulletin board exhibit area about American History, specifically books about the American Revolutionary War and the American Civil War.  Since we are still in the middle of the sesquicentennial anniversary observation of the Civil War, it remains a good time to learn more about our country’s founding.

The library also offers a Civil War bibliography that you can view here.

To learn more about the battles of the Civil War and the Revolutionary War, visit the animated site of both the Civil War and the Revolutionary War.

July 2012 Exhibit: Titanic 100th Anniversary

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912.  To learn more about this tragedy, the passengers, crew, and the ship itself, visit the Erwin Library’s newspaper exhibit area for books about the legacy of the Titanic.  The exhibit features books at both adult and children’s reading levels.

To join in on the history investigation about the Titanic that still continues today, visit the official site of the RMS Titanic.
