WCC Single Search

Erwin Library users will now find a group of tabs on the homepage providing a portal to all options now available through WCC Single Search for making the most of the library's ever-expaniding collection of electronic, as well as print, resources.  Accessible through the WCC Single Search aggregate database are over thirteen thousand video-recordings, as well as thousands of electronic books, articles and images from eighteen research databases in addition to those subscribed to through NC LIVE.

Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)

Learn how to access and conduct an online search of the WCC Library’s catalog for books and audiovisuals held in the collection.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Find out how to request the Erwin Library borrow a book or acquire a journal article for you that is not currently available either in the print collection or in the research databases.

Single Search tab

• A search box to begin searching the WCC Single Search aggregate database, powered by EBSCOHost, which provides an integrated search of all database, e-book, and video streaming resources subscribed to by the Erwin Library
• The option to select a search of the entrie aggregate database with all subject area categories selected, or a search any one or more of the categories 
• As the search progresses, many more search parameters allowing a user to focus his or her search to better serve individual research needs, including topic, format, publication date, or type of publication limiters

OPAC tab

• A search area so a library user can begin a search of the Erwin Library book and video collections
• Several guides to using the OPAC, including the OPAC Basic Search Guide, OPAC Book Renewals Guide, and OPAC Search Guide for Videos

Journals A-Z tab

• A search box which allows a user to search for all available issues of a single journal, magazine or newspaper title
• After the initial search is complete, the option of either browsing the contents of a single issue, or conducting a topic search across the content of all available issues of that journal
• A Browse A-Z Journal Titles tutorial  to help a patron select search options

Other Resouces tab

• A categorized and annotated list of Other Databases, which are searchable, though not yet a part of the WCC Single Search integrated search
• A comprehensive, categorized and annotated list of Internet Resources, with links to everything from government pulblications to weather reports, from the Center for Disease Control to Project Gutenberg 
• Subject Bibliographies, Citation Guides, and Printing Solutions to aid a library user in researching, documenting and producing copies of his or her research papers 
• An Add Video URLs to Moodle class pages tutorial for faculty 
• A direct link to WorldCat for Interlibrary Loan will make it simple to request materials not available in the Erwin Library print or electronic collections
