The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BSIT) is a degree completion curriculum designed for students who hold a qualifying Associate in Applied Science degree (AAS) in an industrial or technology related field. The BSIT Information and Computer Technology concentration focuses on the design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of computer systems and computer networks. Graduates are qualified for career advancement opportunities both in technology and managerial fields.
Students accomplish the AAS portion of the BSIT Information and Computer Technology concentration at Wayne Community College by earning an AAS in Networking Technology. Upon completion of this AAS, students will be prepared for employment in entry-level jobs as local area network managers, network operators, network analysts, and network technicians.
To earn the BSIT Information and Computer Technology concentration, students transfer the AAS in Networking Technology to East Carolina University (ECU) and then complete the remaining program requirements at ECU. BSIT graduates are employed as IT managers, system administrators, and network engineers. Annual salaries for these positions range from $39,000 to $96,000.
