Online Writing Center
The Online Writing Center, an extension of the onsite Writing Center, offers assistance in the writing process to students enrolled in a curriculum class at Wayne Community College. All Wayne Community College students have access to helpful writing tips, Internet links, and interactive grammar exercises through the Blackboard Server at Wayne Community College. In addition, the Online Writing Center works individually on a first-come, first-serve basis with students enrolled in designated Distance Education classes. The onsite Writing Center and the Online Writing Center attempt to help students improve their thinking and writing skills. The Center does not proofread, correct, or edit students' writing projects; however, we can offer tips to students about how to edit their papers and offer comments and suggestions.
WCC Curriculum Student Guests:
Students enrolled in curriculum classes at Wayne Community who would like to visit the Online Writing Center and access the WCC Blackboard Server, click here. When you are prompted for your user name and password, type "writeguest" (without the quotation marks) for your user name and "writeguest" (without the quotation marks) for your password. If you visit the site as a guest, you may access all the information. However, we regret that at this time we can provide comments and suggestions on writing assignments only to students enrolled in designated Distance Education classes. We invite all Wayne Community College students to access the Blackboard server and use the available information in Documents and External Links. When you are ready to exit the site or leave the computer, be sure to click on the Logout button.
First-time Designated Distance Education Users:
Only students enrolled in the English 111 and English 113 Distance Education classes during Fall and Spring Semesters at Wayne Community College can register as a user at the present time.
Please note: You must have mastered basic computer skills (send and receive e-mail with attachments and basic word processing) and use a web browser to insure a successful and productive online experience.

Registered English 111 & English 113 Distance Education Users:

- Once logged in, under the Welcome (Your Name) heading, you will see a column on the left labeled My Courses. You should see the title Wayne Community College Online Writing Center. Click on that link to enter the Online Writing Center. If you do not see the link, please call (735-5151, ext. 750) or e-mail The Writing Center.
- At the site, click on the Course Information button on the left for information on how to submit a paper.
- When you are ready to exit the site or leave the computer, be sure to click on the Logout button.
Papers must be submitted to the Online Writing Center several days before the due date. Please note that we respond to submissions only during designated business hours (M-F 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.). After you submit a paper to The Writing Center consultant, you can expect a response within 48 business hours. If demand is high, we may not be able to serve you within a useful period of time. However, you may wish to login as a guest to access The Online Writing Center for assistance on various writing projects or schedule an appointment at the onsite Writing Center. The onsite Writing Center is located on the fourth floor (mezzanine) of the Wayne Learning Center. Accommodations are made for students with physical disabilities. You can phone 735-5151, ext. 750 or come by to schedule an appointment. The onsite Writing Center’s hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. and Tuesday evening, 5:30 p.m. 8:00 p.m.
Because the consultants have a limited time to respond, please limit the submission to five pages or less. Papers exceeding the maximum should not be sent online. We encourage you to visit us onsite if you would like help with longer assignments.
The information you submit is protected by the password you create, and it is confidential. You can retrieve the comments to the submitted document by returning to the Digital Drop Box.
