Narrative:

Since Wayne Community College’s establishment over forty-six years ago, the college has grown with the economy and population of the county and the region. The college has been in continuous operation since 1957, with both the variety of curricula offered and the number of students enrolled growing steadily through the years. Today, the college has an unduplicated head count of over 4,439 students enrolled annually in seventy-four curriculum programs of study leading to associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. In addition, the college enrolls over 9,984 students annually in continuing education and literacy programs.

Wayne Community College is a member of the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) and one of 59 state community colleges. The college enrollment is validated by the NCCCS office, which annually conducts audits of the college class rosters and requires submission of student data. The NCCCS reports on enrollments in several different ways, including by program. The NCCCS also reports on degrees, diplomas, and certificates awarded.

Wayne Community College enrollment data are submitted to the U.S. Education Department’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and North Carolina’s Higher Education Data System (NCHEDS). The college holds an annual graduation at which degrees, diplomas, and certificates are awarded.

Enrollment data for each program offered at WCC and completions by program data are provided as documentation for this standard.
