COOPERATIVE EDUCATION
Our Mission:
To assist students in developing, evaluating and effectively initiating and implementing career plans, and to assist employers in finding qualified candidates and in arranging training programs for their employees.
Cooperative Education Overview:
Cooperative Education is an educational plan that integrates classroom learning with supervised work experience in an employment situation directly related to the education program of a student. The primary objective is to provide the student with the best possible preparation for employment.
Academic Credit:
Academic credit is given to students for the learning that is gained during the Co-Op work experience. Credit hours for Cooperative Education are determined by the total number of hours that students work during the semester. The breakdown of credit hours worked is as follows:
1 Credit Hour = 160 Hours Worked 3 Credit Hours = 480 Hours Worked
2 Credit Hours = 320 Hours Worked 4 Credit Hours = 640 Hours Worked

JOB REFERRAL
Overview:
Job referral assistance in obtaining part-time and/or full-time employment is provided for WCC students who are enrolled in a curriculum program of for WCC alumni who have graduated with a curriculum degree.
A list of employment opportunities and information pertaining to job opportunities, both part-time and full-time, is maintained and provided for curriculum students as well as for alumni. Assistance is also provided in gathering and presenting material to prospective employers.
An effort will be made to refer curriculum students and alumni to jobs and locales of their choice; however, individuals are referred to prospective employers based on the employer’s stated requirements; however, employment cannot be guaranteed.
Employers are encouraged to contact the Job Referral Office in order to place part-time and/or full-time job posting. Job postings are advertised via various avenues in order to reach the curriculum student population as well as the College’s alumni.
Apprenticeship Overview:
The college offers curriculum development for industries in a registered apprentice program. Counseling and advising are also provided to apprentices.
