Room 101 | Walnut Building | March 23, 2017 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Help is still needed for Hurricane Matthew impacted residents.

Training for anyone who wishes to volunteer as a caseworker for Long Term Disaster Recovery-Wayne County (LTDR-WC) will be held Thursday, March 23 at Wayne Community College.

This training will prepare volunteers to do casework that will determine the unmet needs of Hurricane Matthew survivors so they can be considered for assistance by the LTDR-WC.

A session from 9 a.m. to noon will be dedicated to casework processes. It is required training for caseworkers that will prepare them to help individuals and families as they progress in their recovery.

The 1:30 to 4 p.m. session covers the Coordinated Assistance Network. It is not required but will help caseworkers understand the database that will be used

Lunch is on your own.

The training is free but participants are asked to register by calling 919-739-7002 or emailing DisasterRecovery.WayneNC@gmail.com.

The training will be held in room 101 of the Walnut Building on the college’s main in Goldsboro. The Walnut Building is the far left building when you enter from Wayne Memorial Drive.

The LTDR-WC is a coalition of organizations and agencies working to provide additional long-term assistance to individuals affected by disasters who do not have adequate personal resources for basic needs as a result of disasters.

Training case workers and managers is the first step to being able to work with Hurricane Matthew survivors. Assisting those with unmet needs will begin when financial, material, and human resources are available. Any individual, organization, business, or agency that wishes to contribute skills or goods to this recovery effort is encouraged to send a message to DisasterRecovery.WayneNC@gmail.com.
