FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What do I need to qualify for a scholarship?
A: The criteria varies between programs, but the minimum GPA is 2.5.

Q: I’m a GED graduate. Can I qualify for a scholarship?
A: Yes. Scholarships are available for GED and Adult High School Diploma recipients.

Q: How can I increase my chances of being selected?
A:
1.   Complete the entire application.
2.   Provide a reference from an instructor.
3.   Write a personal statement stating your goals and objectives and provide information on any special circumstances that you feel the selection committee should know.

Q: What is the deadline for applying?
A: The month of April for curriculum fall scholarships.
The month of October for curriculum spring scholarships.  Students must reapply each semester.
The application period differs for Workforce Continuing Education Courses depending on the course start date.

Q: Are there scholarships for Summer Session?
A: No, with the exception of Associate Degree Nursing students.

Q: How much are the scholarships?
A: Scholarship awards vary, but usually come close to covering the cost of tuition.

Q: Where can I get a scholarship application?
A: Download one from the webpage or pick up an application from the Foundation office located in the Dogwood Building, offices 102, 103, and 104.

Q:  How many semesters does the scholarship cover?
A: The scholarship covers one semester.  You must apply in April to be considered for a Fall scholarship and again in October to be considered for a Spring scholarship.

High School Application (Current HS seniors)
Application form must be filled out COMPLETELY! Any application with blank information (ie: GPA’s, anticipated credit hours, course of study, etc.) will not be considered.

IMPORTANT! ALL scholarship recipients are REQUIRED to attend a Foundation Scholarship Recognition Ceremony which is held in February or March of each year. This ceremony is very important and gives the recipients and the donors a chance to meet and cultivate relationships.
