Golden LEAF Scholarships Available

Golden LEAF Foundation scholarships are available for college credit and Continuing Education occupational education students for Wayne Community College’s fall semester.

Curriculum students may receive a maximum of $750 and continuing education students may receive up to $250.

Golden LEAF Scholarships can be used to assist with tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing exams, transportation, and childcare expenses related to attending classes.

Completed applications should be turned in to WCC’s Financial Aid Office by Monday, Sept. 30. Application forms are available at www.waynecc.edu/scholarships and from the Financial Aid Office.

Eligible students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need, and reside in rural counties that are tobacco-dependent and/or economically distressed, including Wayne County. They must be enrolled full time to receive the maximum scholarship award.

The Golden LEAF Scholarship program is funded through a grant to the N.C. Community College System from the Golden LEAF Foundation. More than 7,000 community college students have received Golden LEAF scholarships since 2001.

The Golden LEAF Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 1999 to help transform North Carolina’s economy. The foundation receives one-half of North Carolina’s funds from the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement with cigarette manufacturers and places special emphasis on assisting tobacco-dependent, economically distressed and/or rural communities across the state. The Golden LEAF Foundation works in partnership with governmental entities, educational institutions, economic development organizations and nonprofits to achieve its mission.
