PBL Gives to Children at Duke

For its 2013 holiday project, Wayne Community College’s business education student organization collected toys for hospitalized children.

The Gamma Chi chapter of Phi Beta Lambda collected approximately $1,000-worth of presents for the Me Fine Foundation to distribute to terminally ill children. The gifts will be given to patients on the 5200 Unit at Duke University Medical Center with diseases requiring bone marrow transplants.

Me Fine Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to parents and caregivers sacrificing their livelihoods in order to provide their children with state-of-the-art, or even last-chance medical treatment at Duke and UNC Children’s Hospitals. Me Fine Foundation is committed to ensuring families with children facing a devastating medical crisis are able to receive financial assistance to sustain the loss of income from the dramatic lifestyle changes they face during the treatment process.

Phi Beta Lamba is the postsecondary division of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, a nonprofit education association with a quarter million students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. Its mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
