Course Teaches Soft Skills

Wayne Community College will offer a one-week course on the “soft skills” that are essential for success in the workplace.

The “Critical Employability Skills” course is scheduled for Oct. 21-25. Interactive, hands-on classes will be held 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9:30 a.m.-noon on Friday. It will be repeated Nov. 18-22 and Dec. 9-13. Location is Room 104 of the Walnut Building on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro.

A mandatory orientation session is held prior to the start of the course.

Soft skills are transferable skills that are vital in any industry or occupation and are often among the deciding factors in employee selection and promotion. This course helps individuals improve in areas such as teamwork, appearance, organization, productivity, and communication.

The course is available at no cost to for those who meet certain income criteria or are unemployed or under-employed.
