Classes To Be Held at Dillard/Goldsboro Alumni Facility

September 22, 2021

Wayne Community College is collaborating with Dillard/Goldsboro Alumni and Friends to offer classes.

“This partnership is a result of leaders of Dillard/Goldsboro Alumni reaching out to see how the college could assist them in promoting the use of their new computer lab space that was donated by private businesses,” said Renita Allen Dawson, WCC vice president for workforce continuing education and community engagement.

“Situated in the heart of the city, this partnership will benefit both parties as we seek to provide access to quality education and services to our community,” she said.

The Workforce Continuing Education courses that will be provided there are “best for those who need help learning how to use technology and those who are job seekers,” Dawson said.

“Digital World” provides tips, tools, and tricks for social media and other tools including Facebook, Pinterest, Zoom, Google Meet, and more. It will meet 9-11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 12-28. Registration cost is $25.

Those wishing to attend a “Resume Workshop” will sign up for a session on Oct. 12, Nov. 9, or Dec. 7. It will be held 1-4 p.m. Cost is $70 but tuition fees for the workshop may be waived for qualifying individuals who are unemployed, underemployed, or have received notification of a pending layoff.

“WCC FAFSA Night” is set for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Students and parents can receive hands-on assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form to apply for financial aid for college or graduate school. There is no charge for this event.

Classes will be held in Room 4 of the Neal A. Stitt Building at 801 Poplar Street in Goldsboro.

Participants must follow the college’s COVID-19 protocols including wearing masks and maintaining appropriate distances, and hand washing and sanitation are encouraged.

For more information, visit the Workforce Continuing Education website, or email or call (919-739-6900) with questions.

To register, students should follow the instructions available on the website. They may also register and pay in person at the Workforce Continuing Education Service Reception Desk at the east entrance of the Walnut Building on the college’s main campus.
