June 25, 2026

As part of its Arts and Humanities program, The Foundation of Wayne Community College is hosting a living history experience to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.

“Step into 1776” will be held on Friday, July 3, in Downtown Goldsboro. Historical reenactors from across North Carolina will join the celebration and interact with the community throughout the day.

From 2–5 p.m., attendees can participate in free immersive experiences. Activities include hourly cannon and musket demonstrations at The Hub, a ladies’ colonial craft experience and dress ensemble demonstration at the Terrace Room, a Revolutionary-era medical display at the Acme Theatre, and more.

Beginning at 5:15 p.m., the ticketed portion of the event will be held in the Paramount Theatre. This includes “Taste the Revolution,” where guests will enjoy colonial-inspired refreshments; a reading from the Declaration of Independence at 5:45 p.m.; and a screening of the musical film “1776” at 6 p.m.

Tickets to attend “Taste the Revolution” and the screening of “1776” are $10 for the general public and $5 for children and military. Contact the Paramount Theatre at 919-583-8432 to purchase tickets.

“Step into 1776” is geared toward individuals of all ages, providing a day of history, community, and celebration for the whole family.
