WCC’s Computer-Integrated Machining program received a $19,500 donation from the Gene Haas Foundation.

Of the total donation, $18,000 will be used for student scholarships, and the remaining funds are allocated as a travel allowance to be used by program faculty for professional development.

The scholarship donation will support current and future Computer-Integrated Machining students at WCC by covering the cost of tuition, books, tools, or anything else students may need for their courses.

The Gene Haas Foundation aims to support individuals in manufacturing education. The foundation donates millions of dollars annually to educational programs and community organizations.

WCC Computer-Integrated Machining Instructors Bailee Gilbert and David Meek expressed their gratitude to the Gene Haas Foundation for providing financial assistance to students.

“Because of the Gene Haas Foundation’s generosity, our students can focus on pursuing their dreams instead of worrying about the cost of their education,” said Gilbert. “Their support gives students the freedom to learn, grow, and work toward the futures they’ve always imagined.”

Meek said the program has consistently received scholarship funds from the Gene Haas Foundation each year since 2020. “We have been able to help so many students here at WCC with this donation,” he said.

WCC’s Computer-Integrated Machining program trains students for the high-demand career field of machining technology. Students receive hands-on learning using state-of-the-art equipment to prepare them for the manufacturing industry.

The program offers an associate degree, a diploma, and several certificates. Graduates can transfer to East Carolina University to earn a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology.
