Community Colleges President Visits WCC

March 07, 2019

North Carolina Community College System President Peter Hans visited Wayne Community College on Thursday, March 7 to meet with college administrators and tour the campus.

The stop at WCC was part of the new president’s effort to visit all 58 institutions in the State’s community college system. He became the ninth NCCCS president in May 2018.

NC’s system is the third largest in the country. It educates more than 700,000 students every year.

NCCCS President Peter Hans extends his hand to Joseph Best of Goldsboro, a student in WCC’s General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (GM ASEP), as WCC Associate Vice President of Administrative Services Derek Hunter talks about the facility.

Simulation Coordinator/Clinical Instructor Adam Combs (left) explains the rigors of WCCs nursing program to NCCCS President Peter Hans during a tour of the nursing simulation lab. “A lot of us [WCC instructors] came through this program. We understand where the students are,” Combs said.
