Wayne Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program has a new simulation lab to ensure cadets’ preparedness in the field.
The MILO Range Theater 300 is a use-of-force simulator that provides a fully immersive and realistic training environment. With five screens and projectors, surround sound, and trainee weapon sets, the lab presents students with scenarios to practice responding to multiple threats, learning the proper tactics to apply.

“The goal of using the MILO 300 system is to not only teach the cadets tactics in realistic, high-pressure scenarios, but also train them in how to communicate, de-escalate, and make sound decisions to help protect everyone they come into contact with,” said WCC Dean of Public Safety Angie Blizzard.
The lab will support the cadets’ enhanced practical exercises as they participate in hands-on skills training throughout the BLET program.
Additionally, local law enforcement agencies will use WCC’s new simulator for ongoing training.
“We want to train officers to go into the field better prepared and committed to protecting the community they serve,” Blizzard said.
BLET students learn the physical and cognitive skills needed for a career in law enforcement. Upon successful completion of BLET and passing the BLET state exam, cadets receive certificates that allow them to work as sworn law enforcement officers in North Carolina.
WCC’s program is accredited by the state and mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission through the community college system.
