Wayne Community College Simulation and Game Development Instructor Cheyenne Prybylinski is the recipient of the College’s 2026 George E. Wilson Excellence in Teaching Award.
Prybylinski was announced as the winner during WCC’s spring commencement ceremonies. She was presented with a framed certificate and stipend.
This is the 41st year that the College has presented the award. An anonymous donor established it with the Foundation of WCC to honor the late George E. Wilson. Wilson was known for his service to others and his contributions as a WCC trustee and civic leader in Wayne County and the state.
Prybylinski was selected by a committee of community leaders for the award and will be WCC’s nominee for the 2026 Excellence in Teaching Award given by the State Board of Community Colleges.
Prybylinski was commended by colleagues for her respectful classroom environment, emphasis on communication and adaptability, and genuine commitment to her students’ development. “Her enthusiasm for her discipline is contagious—students quickly recognize that she not only teaches the subject but truly loves it,” said one of Prybylinksi’s colleagues.
In addition to her student-centered educational approach, Prybylinski was also recognized for balancing rigorous instruction with building meaningful relationships. “Through mentorship, outreach, and continued engagement with alumni, she builds lasting relationships that support student success well beyond graduation,” Prybylinksi’s nominator said.
Prybylinski graduated with an Associate in Applied Science degree from WCC’s Simulation and Game Development program and also holds Associate in Science, Associate in Arts, and Associate in General Education degrees from James Sprunt Community College. She has been a full-time faculty member at WCC for five years.
