Small Business Center Offers Free Seminars

The Wayne Business and Industry Center’s Small Business Center has scheduled several no-cost virtual seminars for aspiring and progressing entrepreneurs over the next few months.

The seminars are:* Boots 2 Business (for active duty military, military dependents, and veterans) – 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 4-5, Feb. 1-2, March 1-2, April 5-6, or May 3-4;
* How to Start a Business –1-2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12;
* Writing a Business Plan that Works – 3-4:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 14;
* How to Do the 501(c)(3) Thing – 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 14;
* How to Develop or Restore Bylaws for Non-profits – 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 21;
* How to Prepare for a Lender – 10-11:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 25;
* Choosing the Right Legal Structure – 10-11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26;
* Ready to Be a Business Owner? – 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26;
* Grant Writing for Non-profits – 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28;
* Buying or Selling a Business: What You Should Know – 10-11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3;
* Creative Marketing for Artists and Crafters (Part 1: Make Your Business Successful) – 6:30-9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4;
* Creative Marketing for Artists and Crafters (Part 2: 33 Fun Ways to Increase Your Art Business Sales and Success) – 6:30-9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 11;
* Economic Factors to Consider as an Entrepreneur – 3-5 p.m., March 2;
* Writing a Business Plan for Future and Current Business Owners – 6-8 p.m., March 11;
* Quickbooks for Beginners – 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 23;
* How to Improve Your Credit Score to Over 740: Preparing for a Bank Business Loan – 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 20; and
* Essentials of Bookkeeping – 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 27.

There is no charge for any of these seminars. All will be held online. The link to each seminar will be emailed to the participant after the registration process is complete.

In addition to offering seminars, the Small Business Center provides access to resources and one-on-one counseling for exploring business ideas, starting a business, or expanding an existing business. The Small Business Center is part of NC’s dynamic Small Business Center Network and a component of the Wayne Business and Industry Center (WBIC) at Wayne Community College. The WBIC offers “on time” and “on target” training, counseling, education, and technical services to business and industry in Wayne County. It involves all levels of business and professional organizations in the local community through four main avenues: the Small Business Center, the WORKS Initiative, Military Business Center, and Customized Training Program.
