Dr. Patty Pfeiffer and Dr. Jami Woods (L-R) sign Instructional Service Agreements to offer Wayne CC’s Artificial Intelligence Engineer program and Wilson CC’s Biotechnology program to students at both schools.

Students at Wilson CC can take AI classes online at Wayne CC after they complete their first-year general education classes. Once they complete the program, they will be awarded an Associate in Applied Science – Artificial Intelligence Engineer degree through Wayne CC.

Wayne CC’s Artificial Intelligence Engineer program gives students the skills to design, implement, and support AI and help organizations transition to AI technology.

Wayne CC was the first community college in the state, and the second in the nation, to offer an associate degree specializing in AI. This is Wayne CC’s third ISA for its AI curriculum. It also offers an Artificial Intelligence Engineer degree to students at Brunswick and Johnston community colleges.

Students at Wayne CC can take advantage of the same opportunity with Wilson CC’s Biotechnology program. Individuals can take general education classes and two biotechnology classes at Wayne CC before finishing the program at Wilson CC to earn their Associate in Applied Science degree in Biotechnology.

The Biotechnology program at Wilson CC is designed to meet the increasing demands for skilled laboratory technicians in various fields of biological and chemical technology. Wilson CC will soon provide a more hands-on learning experience in the program through its $30 million biotechnology training center set to open in 2027.

The two schools held a signing ceremony to signify the new partnership.

“This signing ceremony is a powerful example of what we can accomplish through partnerships. When we work together across institutions, we strengthen our communities and broaden the reach of quality education for all,” said Dr. Patty Pfeiffer, Wayne CC president.

“The power of a partnership like this allows us to really amplify what we can do individually,” said Dr. Jami Woods, Wilson CC president. “I’m grateful for our partnership with our Wayne friends and colleagues.”
