Students in Wayne Community College’s Criminal Justice Technology and Forensic Science programs now have the opportunity to transfer seamlessly to East Carolina University through a new partnership between the two schools.

Those who graduate from WCC with an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice Technology can transfer to ECU to earn a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. WCC graduates will have 60 credit hours to transfer toward their bachelor’s degree.
Additionally, graduates who earn an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice Technology/Forensic Science can also pursue a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice at ECU with 56 transfer credit hours from WCC. Students then have the option of adding a concentration in forensic science for additional time.
Both paths allow students to save time and money in earning a four-year degree.
WCC students must have a minimum of a 2.0 grade point average and earn at least a “C” in courses that apply specifically to their major in order to transfer.
“This new partnership with ECU gives students a seamless path to continue their education and reach their goals,” said WCC Criminal Justice Technology/Forensic Science Coordinator Hope Bruehl. “It’s especially exciting to see our Forensic Science program transfer over since those students now have the chance to not only earn a bachelor’s degree but also add a concentration in forensic science if they wish.”
WCC’s Criminal Justice Technology students learn about local, state, and federal law enforcement, judicial processes, corrections, and security services. The program’s Criminal Justice Technology/Forensic Science concentration focuses on evidence processing and procedures in law enforcement.
WCC has several transfer agreements with ECU for other programs, and this new partnership will allow even more WCC students to continue their education at the university.
“So many of our students have dreamed of going to ECU, and now that path is wide open,” Bruehl said. “This is a huge step forward for their futures.”
