Wayne Community College signed its fourth Instructional Service Agreement for its artificial intelligence curriculum, which the school will now offer to students at Nash Community College (NCC).

NCC students can take WCC’s AI classes online after they complete their first-year general education classes. Once they complete the program, they will earn an Associate in Applied Science – Artificial Intelligence Engineer degree through WCC.
WCC’s Artificial Intelligence Engineer program gives students the skills to design, implement, and support AI and help organizations transition to AI technology.
“The world is embracing artificial intelligence, and our students need to understand how to leverage this powerful tool because it is going to be an essential part of our everyday lives,” said WCC President Patty Pfeiffer. “As businesses across our region seek professionals who understand and know how to apply AI, we’re proud to play a role in equipping our future workforce.”
WCC was the first community college in the state, and the second in the nation, to offer an associate degree specializing in AI. It also offers an Artificial Intelligence Engineer degree to students at Brunswick, Johnston, and Wilson community colleges.
“Partnerships are where we excel in North Carolina’s community colleges. Many people think we are autonomous units; nothing could be further from the truth,” said NCC President Lew Hunnicutt. “We need to embrace AI, and this agreement helps us do that. We appreciate everyone at Wayne, and we appreciate this partnership.”
