Wayne Community College will offer the food safety training required for food service establishments this fall.
The State of North Carolina requires that restaurants and other establishments that prepare food have a manager certified in food safety on duty at all times. WCC provides both the eight-hour course that prepares students for the certification exam and that test.
The ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification course will be held four times this fall. The class will be taught 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9, and Dec. 14 on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro.
Cost for the course is $70.
The required textbook, which comes with a voucher for the exam, must be purchased from the college’s bookstore for $74.96.
The ServSafe® exam will be held 8-11:30 a.m. on Sept. 21, Oct. 19, Nov. 16, and Dec. 21. The exam fee is $50.
Individuals who wish only to take the exam can purchase a voucher from ServSafe.com for $36 and pay the exam fee to the college.
Students can register and pay for the course and the exam at the Workforce Continuing Education Customer Service Desk located at the east entrance of the Walnut Building on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro.
Registration and voucher purchase must be completed a week prior to the course or exam date.
