WCC Ranks High on Niche’s Lists of Best Community Colleges

Niche, an online platform that connects students and families with colleges and schools, has ranked Wayne Community College at No. 2 on its 2026 list of Best Community Colleges in North Carolina.

WCC was also ranked No. 13 on Niche’s 2026 list of Best Community Colleges in America.

“Being ranked #2 in North Carolina and #13 in the nation by Niche is a remarkable achievement and a proud moment for Wayne Community College,” said WCC President Patty Pfeiffer. “This recognition is a direct reflection of the dedication, hard work, and excellence of our faculty and staff, who remain deeply committed to the success of every student.”

Other NC community colleges that earned spots in the top five for the state are Randolph Community College (first), Stanly Community College (third), Nash Community College (fourth), and Western Piedmont Community College (fifth).

Niche’s rankings use data from sources like the U.S. Department of Education and student reviews. They evaluate various factors such as academics, student life, safety, and location.

“At Wayne Community College, we are not only providing quality education; we are changing lives and strengthening our community every single day,” Pfeiffer said.
