Wayne Community College students recently received scholarships from the State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) Foundation.
The SECU “Bridge to Career” Program awarded scholarships for $500 each to 24 students enrolled in short-term training through WCC’s Workforce Continuing Education division.

The SECU “Bridge to Career” Program helps remove financial barriers for students seeking to obtain state-regulated or industry-recognized credentials through the Workforce Continuing Education division. The program has supported community college workforce development and continuing education students across North Carolina since 2018.
Additionally, two full-time curriculum students received “People Helping People” Scholarships from the SECU Foundation valued at $5,000 each, to be used across four consecutive semesters.
The scholarship recipients and their programs of study are:
Hannah Gay of Goldsboro, Associate in General Education – Nursing; and
William Jones of Goldsboro, Accounting and Finance.
Two “People Helping People” scholarships are awarded annually to each of the 58 community colleges in North Carolina through the SECU Foundation scholarship program. Students are selected based on scholastic achievement, community involvement, and the demonstration of leadership, the pursuit of excellence, and integrity.
