WCC to Hold Black History Month Celebration

February 09, 2026

Wayne Community College will celebrate Black History Month with several activities on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

The celebration will take place from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. in the Dr. G. Herman Porter Atrium located inside the Wayne Learning Center (the main building on campus with the flag poles in front). It is free and open to the public.

Representatives from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), sororities and fraternities, small businesses, and community organizations will share information with attendees. The event will also feature displayed artwork from previous issues of Renaissance, WCC’s writers’ and artists’ magazine.

Those who attend the celebration are welcome to wear red, green, yellow, black, or traditional attire/prints. A group photo will be taken at 12:15 p.m.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Black History Month’s national recognition.
