WCC Trains Personal Home Care Aides

Wayne Community College will offer a course that prepares students to be personal home care aides.

“Direct Care Basics” focuses on non-nurse aide personal care tasks and soft skill development. Students receive an introduction to basic nurse aide skills, functional concepts within the nurse aide role, enhanced soft skills training, and career counseling.

It will be taught 2-5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 25-Dec. 4.

The $180 fee can be waived for qualifying individuals who are unemployed, underemployed, or have received notice of layoff or pending layoff. Contact Alison Sanford at 919-739-6926 or ajsanford@waynecc.edu to determine eligibility for the waiver.

WCC’s Workforce Continuing Education Services is providing this non-credit course through its Human Resources Development (HRD) program. HRD provides employability skills training and career development courses for adults who are trying to find employment, transitioning back into the workforce, or working to redefine their professional vocation in today’s global market.
