WCC Small Business Center Director Esteban Guzmán has been appointed to serve on the Governor’s Advisory Council on Latino Affairs.

Council members are tasked with exploring specific topics related to the state’s Hispanic and Latino population. They will meet quarterly to discuss how to advance contributions, determine how to expand opportunities and reduce barriers, and make policy recommendations to the governor.

“North Carolina’s Latino population enriches our shared heritage and makes our state a more dynamic place to live,” Stein said in a press release. “That’s why I was proud to sign an Executive Order extending the Governor’s Advisory Council on Latino Affairs. This council has provided valuable wisdom to my team and me, and we want to continue benefiting from its insights.”

Guzmán and the other advisors were installed during a reception at the governor’s mansion. The council members represent key agencies and organizations that work across NC with the state’s Latino population.

“Serving on Governor Josh Stein’s Council for Latino Affairs is not just an opportunity—it’s a responsibility to amplify voices, shape policy, and ensure that the Hispanic community is not only represented but truly heard,” said Guzmán.

In addition to his role at WCC and recent appointment to the governor’s advisory council, Guzmán also serves on several local and state boards and committees.
