
Grow Your Skills with SEED at Wayne Community College!
Applications are open for the 2026 SEED Summer Academies in Advanced Manufacturing and Agriculture!
The SEED academies allow high school students or recent graduates interested in maintenance, mechatronics, engineering, and agriculture to explore these fields through classroom instruction and hands-on experiences, all while earning tuition-free college credit and getting paid.
Academy Dates:
June 8-July 22, 2026
Eligibility: Open to NC high school students and recent graduates (c/o 2026), 16+ years old on or before May 20, 2026
- Explore the worlds of industrial systems or agriculture.
- Earn $15/hour
- 8-week, paid program (25–28 hours/week, Mon-Thurs)
- Earn up to 15 college credits, transferrable to a Registered Apprenticeship or Associate Degree Program
- Hands-on learning experiences
- Field trips to local businesses
- Stipends for travel and supplies
- In-classroom learning led by industry professionals
