The Applied Animal Science Technology program will give you the foundation you need to begin a career in the animal science industry. Animal Science is the science and business of producing livestock such as beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, poultry, sheep, goats, and swine.
As a student, you will learn through a combination of classroom and lab experiences, including summer Work-Based Learning work that gives students practical experience, an opportunity to earn money, and potential full-time employment upon graduation.
As a graduate, you will qualify for a variety of jobs in the livestock and poultry industries. Examples of employment opportunities include equipment sales, feed sales, agricultural supply sales, herd or flock manager, field service supervisor, hatchery manager, feed mill management, farm owner/manager, livestock or poultry operations manager, grain elevator operator/manager, processing facility supervisor, poultry or livestock buyer, and lab technician/manager. Entry-level salary ranges from $20,000 to $30,000.
