“Speed Dating” for Cultural Awareness

WLC 161 | March 25, 2025 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Wayne Community College’s Cultural & Global Education Committee is hosting a “Speed Dating” for Cultural Awareness event on Tuesday, March 25.

In a speed dating format, participants will explore other cultures through shared topics such as greetings, holidays, traditional food, sports, and more.

The event will feature two sessions from 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 12:30–2 p.m., open to both students and employees to attend. It will take place in Room 161 in the Wayne Learning Center (the main building with the flag poles in front).

Special guest speaker Andrea Freile, cultural intelligence and interpersonal consultant and founder of Viva Cultura Consulting LLC, will kick off each session with a brief presentation titled “What Is Culture and How to Navigate It in a Multicultural Space.”

After the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to learn from their peers and gain a deeper appreciation of other cultures. The event will follow a flexible, floating format, allowing attendees to explore and engage in all seven discussion topics or come and go as needed.

All attendees will receive a small door prize. Those who participate in at least six topics will be entered into a drawing for a larger prize. Additionally, every attendee will receive a 15% discount coupon for the beanSweet at WCC café.

WCC encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing accommodations or have questions about access, contact the Accessibility Counselor at 919-739-6729.
