Wayne Community College’s business education student organization will hold a Computer Repair Week March 31-April 4.
The public can bring slow and ailing computers and game consoles to the college for future information technology professionals to perform basic repair services. Cost is $20.
Services include virus/malware removal, software installation or removal, and hardware replacement (owner must provide the software, serial keys, and parts). New this year is Xbox and PlayStation repair.
Items should be taken to the first floor of the Spruce Building on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro. They will be accepted 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday.
The event is conducted annually by the college’s Gamma Chi Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda. Chapter President Angela Cromer encouraged the public to take advantage of it. “It is our community service project, so we would love to help as much of the community as possible,” she said.
The project also will help fund the chapter’s attendance at Phi Beta Lambda’s upcoming State Leadership Conference.
“We have 10 students traveling to Charlotte,” to participate in the conference, Ms. Cromer said. “We will compete in various technology and business competitions. In between competitions we will have the opportunity to attend seminars given by leading business professionals, and participate in a charity walk for the March of Dimes.”
