Wayne Community College will hold an “NC Cutting Edge Science” event on Saturday, April 20 for children and their families.
The carnival-style walk-through event will be held from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. in the Wayne Learning Center (the main building on campus with the flag poles in front) with a few outdoor activities in nearby areas.
Part of the North Carolina Science Festival, this celebration of science and technology innovation will feature hands-on activity stations for participants to explore. Activities are geared toward elementary-age children, but all are welcome to participate.
Some activities include building an automaton, making heat-sensitive slime, exploring the connection between color and scent, using the power of chemistry to inflate a balloon, creating a light-up badge, and planting Christmas trees. There will also be a free raffle for children to win science kits and NC Science Festival tote bags as additional mementos.
The event is free and open to the public, and no pre-registration is required.
