Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Registration Information
EFFECTIVE 02/17/2010 - Due to heightened security at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base it has become necessary for students desiring to take classes with WCC at the base to apply for a Base Pass. If you plan to attend classes on base anytime while seeking your degree, please become familiar with the requirements of a Base Pass. Do not wait until the beginning of the term. Please follow the steps below in applying for security clearance. The COLLEGE STUDENT BACKGROUND SECURITY CHECK FORM is required annually, or as requested by Security Forces. Students do not pay a fee for the background check.
The clearance process takes 7 working days from the day the form is received at the VC. Students must have completed this process BEFORE the start of a term. Deadlines for application change each term. Please call (919) 739-6765 for dates. Passes will be issued ONLY within 3 days of the start of the class.
STEPS FOR ATTENDING CLASSES ON BASE
- Fill out the BASE SECURITY CLEARANCE FORM (NOTE: Please print form front/back on one sheet of paper.)
- Turn form into the WCC Admissions Office. Allow up to 7 days for processing. You will not be notified if you have been cleared to attend classes. You can contact the VC at (919) 722-0524 to make sure your application has been received and processed.
- Your Background Security form is good for one year; however, the Visitor’s Center is required to conduct a DCI check every six (6) months. It is your responsibility to remember the date your pass was first issued and check with the VC (919-722-0524) prior to the 6-month point to insure your DCI check has been completed. Failure to monitor the status of your clearance may result in delays in attending classes.
To obtain a pass, you will need to take the following items with you to the Visitor Center no more than three (3) days before the term begins.
- Class Registration/Receipt (Must show class dates and times)
- Driver's License / State ID
- Valid / Signed Vehicle Registration Form
- Proof of insurance from your insurance company with effective dates.
NOTE: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE YOURSELF TO AND FROM BASE CLASSES. PASSES WILL NOT BE ISSUED FOR “DRIVER’S ONLY” UNLESS THE STUDENT HAS A DISABILITY.
