About Clock/Credit Conversion

Some diploma programs offered at WCC are considered clock-hour to credit-hour conversion. Federal regulations requires colleges convert hours for the diploma programs listed below.

Air Conditioning Heating and Refrigeration Diploma (D35100)
Dental Assisting Diploma (D45240)
Nursing/Practical Diploma (D45660)
Welding Technology Diploma (D50420)

Enrollment for financial aid payment purposes is different for students enrolled in these programs. The Federal Pell Grant is calculated for enrollment and paid using the formula totaling each course’s contact hour multiplied by the number of weeks in the semester and dividing it by 37.5. These converted hours total less than the actual credit hours and are NOT rounded up to determine the enrollment status for payment of Title IV aid.

Note: Tuition and fee charges are NOT reduced based on this formula. Financial aid does not pay for courses outside of the official program of study listed in the College catalog. Contact the Financial Aid Office is you have questions about enrollment in one of these programs.
