Building Construction Technology

The Building Construction Technology program at Wayne Community College gives you real, hands-on experience in the skills today’s construction industry demands. Through multiple levels of carpentry training and real-world coursework, you’ll develop the confidence and experience to step directly into the workforce.

What You’ll Do in This Program:

  • Read and interpret construction blueprints
  • Train in OSHA safety and job site practices
  • Learn building codes and inspections
  • Gain hands-on experience in carpentry, framing, and finishing
  • Work with construction materials and methods
  • Explore surveying and site layout
  • Use CAD software to design and plan projects
  • Understand building science, structures, and estimating
